What Does a DARCC Volunteer Advocate Do?

At DARCC, we're grateful for the amazing volunteer advocates who show up for survivors of sexual violence every single day. Their compassion and dedication help survivors as they take their first steps toward healing.

How do they support the community?

  1. Hospital Accompaniment

When a survivor arrives at the hospital, a DARCC advocate is dispatched to provide immediate crisis support. Advocates are there to ensure survivors don't have to face this experience alone.

  2. Education

Advocates help survivors understand their rights, options, and the legal process. Through education, they help survivors regain a sense of control and agency, offering support as they navigate the decisions ahead.

  3. 24-Hour Sexual Assault Hotline

Our advocates answer hotline calls, offering emotional support, referrals to resources, and assistance. They are trained to listen compassionately and help survivors take the next step in their journey toward healing.
