Ringing in the New Year with Care and Action

As we celebrate the start of a new year, let’s remember that safety and support for one another should be our top priority. It’s not just about the big moments – it’s about the small actions we take every day to look out for those around us.

When something feels off, speaking up or stepping in can have a huge impact. Whether it’s offering a kind word, checking in with someone, or stepping in when you notice something doesn’t feel right – your actions can help prevent harm before it happens.

  1. Your voice matters. A simple “Are you okay?” or “Let’s get out of here” can give someone the confidence to speak up or seek help.

  2. Your presence matters. Sometimes, just being there for someone can make all the difference.

  3. Your courage matters. Even when it feels uncomfortable, your willingness to act can shift the course of someone’s night, and even their life.

This New Year’s Eve, let’s commit to stepping up when we see something that doesn’t feel right. Together, we can create a culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.

If you or someone you know ever needs support, we’re here for you. Contact our 24-hour sexual assault hotline: 972-641-7273.
